about

This is a David Bowie cover we’ve been toying with for a while now. For a time, it was a sort of tongue-in-cheek idea, with COVID-19 and a national quarantine proving an excellent backdrop to the theme of the song.
Then on May 25th, George Floyd was murdered by police officers - on film, in front of a crowd of citizens - on the street in Minneapolis. Proudly indignant, arrogant, and seemingly invincible, they watched the life leave his body and knew the crowd around them could do nothing.

In response, we’ve seen solidarity through protest in all 50 states. We’ve seen strength and anger and resilience and fire. We’ve seen the breaking point. We’ve seen that now, more than ever, we must fight back. And so have THEY. We’ve seen that THEY are afraid of US. We The People hold the power of change, and now is the time to use it.

We’re releasing “I’m Afraid of Americans” as a pay-what-you-want single with 100% of the donated proceeds going to Campaign Zero: a new Black Lives Matter platform & organization dedicated to ending police brutality in America.
We hope you’ll donate what you can, and we urge you to go out and contribute, through whatever means necessary. We must FIGHT. We must stand together, marching forward, and keep them AFRAID OF AMERICANS.
